The asset register holds the things your organisation owns — vehicles, equipment, anything that has to be accounted for. This guide adds one: check it isn't already listed, enter its details, and save it.
Search before you add. The register's search matches on an asset's name and its reference, so either one tells you whether it is already there.
Need a type that isn't in the list? Setting up a new asset type, with its own fields, is covered in Set up an asset type.
Step 1
Check it isn't already there
In the side menu, click Assets. Search the register before adding anything. The search matches on name and on reference.
Step 2
Name it
Click Add asset, then enter the name people will search for.
Step 3
Give it a reference
Enter its reference, using the numbering scheme your organisation already has.
Step 4
Choose the type
The type decides which extra details the form asks for. A vehicle asks for a registration, which is required.
Step 5
Create it
Check the details, then click Create asset.
Step 6
Check what saved
The asset is now in the register, with its reference and type.
