Why it matters
Keep the Conversation Where the Care Records Are
Direct and group messaging between your staff, in the same app as the work — not on personal phones and private numbers.
Care teams talk constantly, and most of that talk happens on personal devices in group chats the organisation does not control and cannot see. It works right up until someone leaves, a message needs to be found, or a conversation about a client ends up somewhere it should never have been.
Read+Respond includes person-to-person messaging as part of the platform. One-to-one conversations and named group threads, with the things people expect from a modern messenger: read receipts, reactions, replies with the original quoted, @mentions, editing with the full history kept, pinned messages, typing indicators, link previews, and photo and file attachments. Messages arrive in real time on web and mobile, with unread badges and push notifications, and search works across a single conversation or everything you can see.
By default staff can only message people they share a team with, so the contact list matches how your organisation is actually organised rather than exposing everyone to everyone. A specific permission lifts that limit for the roles that genuinely need to reach anybody.
This is deliberately separate from the AI assistant. The assistant answers questions about your care data; Messages is for talking to your colleagues. Same app, same login, same permissions — different conversation.
