Check a client handover summary

Read a client's AI handover summary, see what it was drawn from, and check it against the record before you act on it.

Sound is off

A client's Handover view is a written summary of their recent records, generated for you rather than typed by anyone. It is a fast way to see what deserves attention before a shift — and it is not a substitute for the records themselves.

It is built from what is already recorded: the client's profile, their form responses from the last seven days, their documents, and their facility. The points it raises are graded Critical, High, Medium and Low, so the things most likely to matter are at the top rather than buried in date order.

It may not be new. Opening the page shows the summary that already exists, which can have been generated some time ago — so check when it was made before you rely on it, and use Refresh to build a fresh one from the current records. Nothing you do on this page changes a record.

As the page itself says: AI-generated summary. Please verify information and use professional judgment. Read the section, then open the record it came from before acting on anything that matters.

  1. Step 1

    Find the client

Search Clients for the person you are handing over, and confirm you have the right record before you open it.

  2. Step 2

    Open Handover

Handover is the button at the top of the client's page, beside their name — not one of the tabs.

  3. Step 3

    Read the summary

The summary is grouped by how much each point matters, with the critical items first, and drawn from their profile, recent form responses, documents and facility.

  4. Step 4

    Open a section

Each section expands to show what it was built from — which is how you tell a summary line from the record behind it.

  5. Step 5

Check the age, and refresh if you need to

The summary shows when it was generated. If that is older than the events you care about, Refresh regenerates it from the current records.

  6. Step 6

The summary is a record, not a view

A handover summary is stored against the client like anything else, not rendered fresh each time you look. It carries when it was last refreshed — so two people reading it are reading the same text, from the same moment.

That is why Refresh matters and why it is a deliberate action rather than something the page does on open. Pressing it replaces the stored summary for everybody, not just your view of it. The sections it produces are ordered and graded rather than listed by date, and each one records which kinds of record it drew on — which is what the section expanding is showing you.

  7. Step 7

    Verify before you act

The summary is a pointer, not a source. Anything you are going to act on — a medication change, a risk, an incident — open the underlying note or form and read it there. The summary is generated from records that may themselves be incomplete, and a point it does not raise is not a point that did not happen.

  8. Step 8

Opening it does not regenerate it

Visiting the page shows the summary that already exists. That is deliberate — generating one costs time — but it means the page can show a summary written before this morning's notes. The timestamp is the thing to check, not the fact that the page just loaded.
